"It will not be tolerated": Trump condemns the shooting of lawmakers in Minnesota

A series of armed attacks shook Minnesota this Saturday, June 14, when Two state congressmen were attacked at their homes in Champlin and Brooklyn Park, north of Minneapolis. U.S. President Donald Trump condemned the violence and mourned the deaths.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz called the incident an act of "political violence" and strongly condemned the attack, stressing that differences should not be resolved through violence.

Trump orders initial investigations

"I have been made aware of the horrific shooting in Minnesota , which appears to be a targeted attack on state legislators (...) they are investigating the situation," President Donald Trump wrote on social media about the unfortunate incident.

The murders occurred in the northern United States, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is already conducting the relevant investigations. The president also stated that this violence "will not be tolerated" due to its political and radical implications.

“Such horrific violence will not be tolerated in the United States of America. May God bless the great people of Minnesota, a truly wonderful place!” the president concluded.

What happened in Minnesota on June 14?

State Representative Melissa Hortman was killed along with her husband, while Senator John Hoffman and his wife were seriously injured. Hortman, an attorney and mother of two, was a prominent Democratic leader and former Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Hoffman, also a Democrat, was elected in 2012 and runs a consulting firm. Both he and his wife underwent surgery after being shot multiple times; authorities reported their recovery was promising.

The prime suspect, who was wearing a police uniform , allegedly used that disguise to gain access to the homes. Although the exact motive was not confirmed, investigations pointed to possible political motivations.
